Work in progress, Feb. 4th

Sorry, I've been project hopping this weekend...

This is what I've been working on since about 7 p.m. last night.

It's just the blocks laid out on the floor, I haven't even pieced them yet. It's for a class I'm taking next Saturday called "Tessellating Stars" and one of the things we need to bring to class is a completed quilt top. Then I guess we're gonna cut it apart again, turn the pieces, and re-piece it. In the end, it will look something like this.

Most of the fabrics are ones I brought back from Japan. In the close up are some favorites I've been hording (for 5 years!). I tried to use almost all of the fabrics from Costas' wall hanging (story about the fabrics can be found here), as I want this quilt to be for him, and to decorate our living room. Let's see when/if that will happen..

Yesterday I worked a lot on the WW, quilting 3 circles. This morning I woke up and broke my quilting fingernail (middle finger, left hand. the one that goes under the quilt to push the needle back up), not exactly sure how, but I was a little upset about that nontheless. Hope this won't discourage me from working on it. I used the break as a sign that I should take care of some other things-- washing the kitchen/bathroom floors, doing some laundry, flipping through the 9/2006 Quilts Japan, working on the quilt above, and maybe later I'll give these a try. I don't know if mine will come out as good as My Little Mochi's, but if they do, I may just make them again for the next guild meeting.

Hi Jessica, I liked your winding ways quilt--I made a much smaller one a few years back. Cutting out the pieces was nerve wracking for me. I am intrigued with your new project. Just how do you turn those squares into those stars? Keep posting, I'd love to see how this turns out!
