Quilter's eye view

The quilting on A's wall hanging is going along really quickly. Of course it helps that I've had absolutly nothing to do for the past 3 days but sit around and quilt.

It's been really sunny this weekend too, perfect for hand work. I discovered a comforatble position on the loveseat in the living room. I'm not usually home during the day to catch the sunlight here, so I hadn't noticed before. I like quilting in the living room so C and I can be together. Can you see the legs of the soccer players on the TV behind me?

I wanted to take this small project with me on my business trip to Toronto this week (Tues-Thurs), but if I keep at it, there may not be much left to work on. Later today I may switch to machine piecing and sort out the rest of the Winding Ways blocks. I haven't worked on that one in a while (probably since I last posted about it) and I was thinking about it today after my dad called this morning. You know I hadn't really had much of a purpose for making it besides wanting to try the pattern, wanting to use the fabric, and wanting to make something for the guild show. I guess those are all good reasons. The deep pink fabric was supposed to be for a baby quilt-- I bought it a few months after we started trying to get pregnant. I suppose in the back of my mind I still kind of hope it can be a baby quilt, but we'll just have to see about that. Dad called this morning to check on the status of my application for Irish citizenship. I've had it all ready to go for almost two years, I'm just missing one document-- my parents' marriage certificate. Dad is quite passionate about me getting citizenship because he knows of all the family members, I'm the one most likely to use it. He has always wanted it for himself too, but has never taken the steps to get things in order. He promised to work on getting their marriage certificate by the time I get home for Christmas. Maybe if I go through with it, he'll follow suit as well. Anyway, how does this tie into the Winding Ways quilt? The blocks are sort of a styalized shamrock pattern, and half of them are done in bright green.. I don't know. I've been thinking about quilting so much lately I bet I could draw connections between anything.
(Many thanks to Costas, my reluctant photographer. <3 )

Wow, that's pretty cool to be able to do citizenship by descent. I loved Ireland and had a great time when I was there.
